Stopped playing that like 15 years ago. The game's fun, but the money investment is insane, and cards that get stronger and stronger is also a silly concept.
Re: Magic: The Gathering - Return to Ravnica
I always think about how rich I could be if I had spent all my money on magic cards when I started playing and would have sold them ten years later (or now). Antiquities, Legends, Unlimited and Revised edition boosters...all of them available for sale at default price. On a games convention I saw an unlimited amount (100+ displays) of revised boosters for half price (1.5$) but bought none of them because it was the default edition after all and I already had enough of it. Other things I remember are trading 3 dual lands for 10 regular lands. Or trading a Candelabra of Tawnos for a Lord of the Pit. Did some great deals back then.
But anyway, two things killed Magic for me. First - the Internet. The pros figure out the good decks and people collect all the cards needed and play the decks. Developing your own deck isn't necessary anymore and if you do you'll lose against someone who plays a deck someone else created. But at least 50% of the fun in playing magic is creating your own decks imo and all that is gone.
Then you have all the new cards constantly coming out. Simply too expensive and time-consuming for my taste.
In the early 90s I was really obsessed with the game (and I still have thousands of cards, though I sold most of the good ones), but not anymore.

Are 90's Magic cards valuable? I have a stack load including 100's of cards from revised including dual lands and cards from Legends, Antiquities, and other expansions.
I haven't touched them in around 10 years, maybe I should ebay them?

Certain early 90s cards for sure. Duallands (the real ones) are worth quite a bit.
Of course most of the cards are still worth nothing at all, so don't expect to become a millionaire.

Dual lands sell for ~40$ each on Ebay, the best cards from Legends and Antiquities sell for 100$ or more (Candelabra of Tawnos I mentioned for example is worth ~150$, some others like Mishra's Workshop even more). Most revised cards are worth nothing (or not much) though, it's mainly the dual lands (which were removed after revised) people are after.Darklord wrote:Are 90's Magic cards valuable? Hmm one of my mates had Beta Dual lands, guess they are even rarer! I took a little look on ebay and overall the prices are less than they were in the 90's, Shivan Dragons were worth £15-£20 for example now they seem to be nearly worthless. Nice artwork though, Melissa Benson, I have some of her work framed.
