Grimrock...Rox!
Awesome game - As a 36 year old-school RPG gamer, I'm really enjoying LoG as much as I enjoyed EotB 1 and 2, and Captive. I seem to have a natural affinity to 'knowing' my way around complex tiled maps (good for me eh?).
I've scooted down to level 3 pretty swiftly using 'kiting' (there's a word I never used back in the day - if you knew a map backwards, it was considered a damn decent skill). I've read a review however saying that "during level 1, you'll have probably got a dream sequence when you rested"...here's the thing - I haven't rested yet, and a rest is not on the horizon as far as I can tell.
Will my lack of resting cause problems for the unfolding of the story? Should I make a point of resting 'every now and then' to ensure that the story plays out?
Loving playing the game - Super work!

Rest every now and then. It will do you a world of good.

I initially intended not to rest during my run-through, either. However, I've rested once, because...Flashheart wrote:I've scooted down to level 3 pretty swiftly using 'kiting' (there's a word I never used back in the day - if you knew a map backwards, it was considered a damn decent skill). The Secret Vault door at level 5 requires you to rest to open it.

I would, it's the only time you get the 'story bits', such as they are. No resting - no backstory. And anyway, you only need to rest for a few seconds on each floor to get the dreams - it will hardly affect your hunger meters.Flashheart wrote:Will my lack of resting cause problems for the unfolding of the story? You know you can just dream a few times on a later level and receive all the earlier dreams as well?Marak wrote:I would, it's the only time you get the 'story bits', such as they are. Thanks for the help. It's good to know that I haven't missed anything

I actually had the same issue. I only started resting more after later in the game, when I met enemies that provided a stable and steady food supply. ...you're not required to rest at that location. It's enought to stand on the spot for about 1 minute. However, resting is probably faster.
You know you're screwed when the light at the end of the hallway is an onrushing ogre wielding a torch.
