Are the Uggardians on the pit puzzle supposed to endlessly respawn?
I got the key, killed the one that appears out of thin air, left room, got back to Deamon face, went back and there is an endless respawn.
Tried killing them in torch room, in pit room, and luring down hall. When go few steps in 3 or 4 more appear.
Was going back just to look for secrets or something I might have missed but can't get around room without endless fight.

They seem to respawn endlessly, but their respawn time is moderate.
While doing the pit puzzle, they are also triggered by specific actions.

Use Fireshield / Ice / range attacks to take them down quickly.

When I was there, they seemed to respawn whenever I left the immediate area. Going around the corner to the little alcove seemed OK but anywhere past that would repopulate the pit room. This of course also happened if you fell down a pit.
