Painting my own Portraits - #1 Done!

Hey all,

I'm here because I'm in the middle of creating a portrait pack, and instead of just posting them all up at once, I figured I could get some feedback from the community as they were completed! The plan is to get a very detailed portrait for both sexes of all of the races in the end. I plan to have one completed at least once a week, if not more often. I'll be sure to edit this post regularly with updates.

This is a project that I'm doing in my spare time. Otherwise I'm an upcoming Senior Illustrator at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, so bear with me on my own deadlines. :)

also, here is a link to a more detailed version, for those who want to see that. The face is based on Sifra-Stock's Male Stock 005.

As a preemptive disclaimer, you my use and distribute the portraits I'm making freely. I just ask that if you do reblog them (i.e. blogspot, twitter, FB, etc.)where others can see, that you credit me as the artist (Jaymes Thompson), and provide my email (Jaymes.S.Thompson@gmail.com)in case anyone takes an interest in these. Thank you.

Looks pretty cool. I am doing the same thing over in my thread if you want to check that out.

Your painting style is... a bit impressionistic? I mean that you are using some vague shapes and colors to define the hair and things. Well it looks cool. Keep making them! I have been trying to make at least 1 every day. Is this first portrait based on you or someone you know?

Like I said, its not done. The hair and neck are in very early stages, and I need to touch up the face a little more. It'll be finished by tomorrow at the latest, though.

I'd say that it was too impressionist as is, too. :P

As for who it is, it's actually based on stock image. Thank you for reminding me. I'll edit the link into my post.

Portrait 1 completed! :)

I know I said it'd be done by this morning, but the hair took a little longer than I had anticipated. I'm only ten minutes late (for Est)! >_> Hope you guys like it.

Next up: Human female

Great work, but seems too "modern". Awesome technique. Go on!
