Stuck at Level 2 gate

Hello,

I appear to be stuck on Level 2. I've run backwards through the teleporter and gotten the brass key. Then I return to the room with the glowing blue crystal and try the key on the gate, but it doesn't work. I click on the brass key in the inventory and then click on the lock with the key and nothing happens. It's maddening. I think I'm doing the right thing. Any ideas? Is this a known bug?
