Hi all,

I read that there are achievements, are these tied only to the steam version, or also in the stand-alone? (my version is via gog.com.)

Only had a few minutes to start the game, cant play til weekend sadly, so I probably havent done anything achievement-worthy :(

Yes they are. I started over (installed stand-alone first) after finding out.

too bad, guess that means next time i rather buy a game via steam instead of gog :(

achievements in themselves not being essential, but i still find them rather amusing, and a nice way to hint at stuff you can do in game, which perhaps you didnt even try out for yourself or simply funny things.

You can still do these things in the DRM free copy, theres just no tracking besides your own.

the point in achievements is that they track things you possibly never thought of tracking yourself.
I read about you get an achievement for killing an enemy by falling on him or by teleporting into his space. that most certainly is something you normally wouldnt think of :)

And as I said, it wont diminish my enjoyment of the game itself, but since I don't mind steam, in hindsight i should have gotten my copy there.

My next question would be, if I can add my game to steam? possibly only as a quicklink, but not for real, since I dont have a key for the game via gog (had I ordered via the official page, seems I would have gotten one in addition).

Well, either I gift the game to someone and get a new copy, or simply live with it :)

"casted 500 spells" is also quite tedious to track by yourself ^^.

I was alot into achievements when I only had my 360 and alot of times to play the games. But since there are achievements on Xbox, Steam and PS3 now, I don't really trying that hard anymore. But I agree it is a good way to keep great games motivating a little longer.

GoG and Steam are competitors so I don't see them handing out Steam-Keys anytime soon. And on Steam, you only get the achievement-support if you activate it with a key / buy it on Steam. Adding games from outside simply works like a shortcut.
