achievements are steam only?
Re: achievements are steam only?
Some people actually hate achievements because they remind them of the console decline that permeates gaming in recent years, so the fact that the GOG version doesn't have them (and is DRM free to boot) is a godsend. People who do want achievements are also likely fond of steam so np for them. Can't please everyone, but in this case they can please the majority.

+1 to Arctor
Achievements only add longevity to a game after its conquered - thats the real achievement - conquering the game =)
I am very pleased that I can buy this a digital distribution thats not locked into steam or other quagmire of .... well... not sure there is a word strong enough...
Infact, after 15 minutes - which includes watching the latest trailer release - I pre-ordered - this is just the type of game I WANT to play... I have my media PC back up and running - hooked upto the 42" plasma... I have stocked up on graph paper and printed out the manual on my printer.... I have got stocks of all adventure supplies (crisps, cola, chocky noms) and when the game is released, my brother and I (we are both in our 30's) are going to bash this game into the wee small hours.... I can see a bit of a mission happening.... it happened with EOB and Dungeon Master.... and Perihelion .... woah.... that was a long week's obsession!
Here Here for Almost Human - catering for a humble gamer, whom wants a good game and not be tied to some providence like steam / EA! and for me, in today's gaming age.... thats an Achievement!
I look forward to supporting your products in the future!!!

Re: achievements are steam only?
My only disappointment (I bought the GOG version) is that I've completed the game, found all Toorum's notes and even completed what would (on steam) give me the Toorum buddy's achievement and allow me to unlock Toorum mode.
I thought maybe it would still enable it since I took his remains to the crystal but upon creating a new game, looks like Toorum mode is still unavailable.
EDIT: HA! Nevermind. I figured it out. I wasn't hitting enter when I typed in his name. I was clicking the next party slot assuming it would automatically create him. Got it now. Off to the dungeons!
