It is probably not going to happen, but I also would like the ability to change the FOV for this game. I struggled to make to level 4 and I just cannot go on any further. It make me too nauseated. Playing for any more than about 10 minutes really makes me queasy. I really want to finish this game, but just can't deal with the nausea. Please, please allow changing the FOV. Thanks.

This will not happen.

Usually the problem is not the Field of View. More likely are bad system performance and/or wrong calibrated displays. Results are i.e. low FPS and all it's side effects like choppy movement/display rendering or displays setup with i.e. bad refresh-rates or resolutions (was a huge issue back in CRT days).

those are likely culprits, but FOV alone can have this problem for some people

Back in the early 90's when the first fullscreen-first-person shooters came out i thought so too. For example Wolfenstein 3D and later on Quake gave me headaches after about 10 minutes.

Now low and behold! by replacing the gfx card with something better and - even simpler - boosting my displays refresh rate a few Hz up the issue went away. Since then it always turned out the same way when now and then a game showed up that i couldn't play for more then a few minutes: insufficient pc hardware or setup.

I'm sure my issue is due to the FOV. I've disabled the head bob which made no difference, and I've had the same issue with source and unreal engine games. Once I increased the FOV in Half-Life 2 and Unreal Tournament 3, the nausea went away.

What it is, is Simulator Sickness. I get this in Battlefield 1942, Rise of the triad, Quake 2, and occasionally other FPP games. Oddly I find (and had heard) that head bobbing ~helps rather than hurts... It was the slip-sliding games that seemed to be the worst offenders to me.

*Wide FOV is listed by some as a related cause.

Well, I thought I would try to hack it in by side-loading a different d3d9.dll, but didn't really think through the repercussions of changing the FOV. I've managed to get the game to render at 80 Degrees vertical FOV (and any arbitrary value), but the click positions for all of the items are obviously out using this method. I didn't want to hack the binary or anything like that, as that just seems a bit dodgy, but I'm afraid without actually getting in there and playing with the .exe file, I don't think I can reasonably fix the rest of the issues.

Oh well, here's a screenshot of Grimrock with an 80 degree vertical FOV for fun!
