Indeed, I believe that a cool down time between contests EDIT: is needed.

It's supposed to say "is needed" haha
Guess I dozed off while writing it.

Well, yes. I was also banking on new blood coming into this one. It's more than understandable for previous contestants to need some downtime.

Your challenge has inspired multiple ideas in me, but as I've only been in the editor for 2 nights and I have a very full work week, I'm not likely to get very far on learning how to implement half of my thoughts before the contest is over. Best of luck to you and any contenders, however.

P.S. I've been wanting a pedestal of runes that you could use for punching in combinations since I finished the game. I think that would make your control theme so much fun to play with. . . :ugeek:

Agreed. It's basically the "gift to the community" I'm hoping this contest spawns. think about it, you can make like rc cars.. control an ogre and smash the absolute crap out of a room full of skeletons.

As much as this sounds fun to do, I'd rather not participate while the editor is still young and what is currently exposed to LUA script is far too limiting.

FOR EXAMPLE: You can't even stop the warden from initiating its rush (i.e. charge) attack as it is not covered by either the onMove or onAttack hook. So to remotely control one of these things to then having it suddenly charge you when you stand in front of it, although hilarious, is kinda frustrating if you wanna design something which you need the rush to be disabled on. If I were you I'd consider lowering the bar for competitions like this until scripting is more accessible. I myself am putting modding on this game on hold for said reason.

Doesnt have to be the warden per se. i originally wanted to just move statues around. like chess pieces.

Re: EDITING CHALLENGE II: Warden's Woe (Scaled back)

Post by HaunterV »

ok I have scaled back the scope of the constest. Now I just want you to basically make a small dungeon where you steal from the warden via some form of statue shifting or some other normally non movable object. Think a classic LoZ block sliding puzzle to open the door in a dungeon room or to make a chest appear, only in this challenge you move a statue or something and it opens up a treasure room or makes a treasure appear in an alcove or what have you.

I think these contests should get sticked to the top of the forum.

Also is no one interested in this challenge, I was thinking of using this one to demo some of my stuff, but not that much fun if no one else enters it.
