Graphics issues (screen randomly goes blank, weird flickerin
Hi, and before anyone says "Turn off your antialiasing," it already is. And anyways, my problem is not the same as the general black screen constantly. Mine comes rather randomly. Will be playing fine for 15 minutes then everything will just go black. I can still interact with the game, I can hit escape to save and load and whatnot.
The other issue is kind of hard to describe, but I'll try my best. There are random flickerings, almost laserlike, and they're yellowish/orange. Sometime they're really small, and sometimes fairly large. When I looked directly at a torch once the torch was weirdly pulsing . I'll try to get a screenshot but they flicker very fast so it might be tough to capture.
It seems like these issues happen after about 10-15 minutes. If I just reload the game they're gone generally (black screen at least, flickering is a toss up). VSync is on.
Anyways, Spec time:
AMD FX 4100 quad core 3.6 ghz
8gb ram
AMD Radeon HD 6670 with current dirvers 12.4
Windows 7 64 bit

Reset all driver settings to default values in display driver's control panel.

Hi Corpekata, thanks for your report. As your first reported issue starts after some minutes it's an indication that this could be an variation of the GPU overheating problem with LOG, reported for other setups too. Monitoring your GPU temperature with GPU-Z could give an answer if LOG brings your GPU to its limits. Also, do you know how many FPS do you achieve with grimrock? Only if your system is beyond 60 FPS vsync or the framerate limiter helps in keeping the GPU cool. Grimrock shows the fps with the grimrock.cfg parameter debugInfo = true (how to viewtopic.php?f=12&t=2574&start=10#p26796). If the preconfigured value for maxFrameRate = 120 is to high for your setup, try a lower value maybe around 30fps (or reduce the resolution).Corpekata wrote:Hi, and before anyone says "Turn off your antialiasing," it already is. Re: Graphics issues (screen randomly goes blank, weird flick
@Darklord Doesn't really do anything. I've figured the weird texture issue is related to light sources. Torches, the blue teleportation fields, casting a fireball all causes weird flashes of textures the color of the effect. The torches, being so prevelant are the biggest cause of the headache.

I know people have had similar problems in the past,
viewtopic.php?f=12&t=2463&p=25395&hilit=torches#p25395
viewtopic.php?f=12&t=2438&p=25075&hilit=torches#p25075

For them I think resetting and removing Anti Aliasing fixed it, if it's something different in your case then I'm not sure.
You could try updating your driver to.

Re: Graphics issues (screen randomly goes blank, weird flick
@badhabit. Average FPS is around 40 or so. Sometimes gets a bit higher and sometimes dips to around 30 but never lower. This is at the default settings the game gave me at my native resolution of 1680X1050. I know I could probably lower settings to get to 60 FPS but I wasn't all that worried about it, I am generally fine with around 30. Each time I've launched the game I've lowered a setting to see if it helps. I haven't had a blank screen again yet, but I'm not sure if that's just a coincidence. So far no changes on the flickering at settings of High-Medium-Medium-Medium. I looked in the AMD control center at my GPU temp and the highest I've seen it at was around 55 degrees, though to view this I had to alt tab so unsure of how valuable that info is. I'll try GPU-z next.
Re: Graphics issues (screen randomly goes blank, weird flick
As I said in my opening about anti-aliasing, this isn't the issue. Those people are just logging into the game with a black screen and torches. Me, the game works normal, then it all goes black randomly, no torches or anything. My issues with the torches are a seperate deal, with their textures bugging out. They don't happen at the same time, and the black screen the last few launches has not reappeared yet, so the main issue for me at the moment are the texture flickerings.Darklord wrote:I know people have had similar problems in the past,

My video card drivers are up to date, I check for updates every week.

Not sure then sorry, you may need to wait for an official response.

Just an update, here's a screenshot

The blue lines are obviously the oddity. It doesn't seem too bad in the screenshot but they're constantly moving and flashing so it gets pretty annoying. Hard to capture the issue in a screenshot as they move so fast.

Have you had this problem with any other games?
And what color depth are you using?
