Level (dungeon) Design Contest - Fatbot Games (Vaporum)

Post by Tibor »

Hey guys!

I am posting here on behalf of Fatbot Games - a company behind the dungeon crawler called Vaporum.

I reckon that some of you dungeon designers here might be interested in taking part in our contest we at Fatbot Games are hosting!

You can read more info about it here on our blogpost:
https://fatbot-games.com/2019/11/29/lev ... test-2019/

Besides some sweet loot for the winner, there is a chance to have the winning design implemented and credited as a small bonus part of our new project we are working on.

It would be awesome if people from Grimrock's modding community participate in this!

Thank you!
Cheers! :)

So... With this I assumed that I had somehow missed the level editor for Vaporum... but reading that link, I must guess that they only mean a description of a level concept?

There is no editor for this game ;)
But you can buy Grid Cartographer 4 and use it for your level creation.

Hey, guys!

Just to clear some confusion:
  • You do not need Grid Cartographer to be able to send us your submission.
  • Vaporum does not have a level editor.
  • You can send us your level design in an image format (PNG), which can either be a photo of your pen & paper design or an export from an image editor like Photoshop, or you can send us a GCT file in case you're using Grid Cartographer for the contest.
Hope this make things a little clearer. Sorry for the confusion! :)

@zajoman

For further clarification... all you want is a map layout?

*Meaning no traps, monster, or treasure placement; no keys, or overall level design beyond a picture of the hallways?

**Essentially a graph-paper sketch?

***So maps could be done in the Grimrock editor?
...and/or given as a screenshot? [just for example]Show

@Isaac

Traps, switches, interactives, monster and treasure placement, all laid out in rooms and hallways, along with a text file describing a typical playthrough is exactly what we want. Please refer to this document, especially the example section at the bottom for a clearer picture of what we want.
