That still works for me though.
Oh it does? I thought to have read here it was removed/fixed but i could be mistaken.
Care to post how it's done again for those in need?

Works for me like explained in the timed puzzle help thread here:

The magic console words are: gameMode.timeMultiplier = 0.7 (for 70% speed, adjust number to what is needed)

Sadly my previous post was wrong, slowing the game down via the gameMode variable doesn't work anymore in the new version.
It did work for me when I made the former post because I still had the old files from the old console method in my Grimrock directory, after reinstalling the game (and removing the old files) it doesn't work anymore.
That's a bad thing, means I can't play the official Grimrock game now.

Sure you can. Just look for a slow down utility.
