Now, here just a random thought:
As a kid I used to play the ISHAR-Games on my ATARI like mad. I played all three of them, but never finished a single one of them. Sometimes it was bugs, sometimes it was just immature me, missing clues. Seeing now, that GRIMROCK is apparently capable of picturing overworld scenarios, I wonder if some creative guys would like to get around creating a Mod, copying the scenarios, puzzles and dungeons of the first ISHAR-Game? ...
Then again, ISHAR had towns, cities and shops. I don't know, if something like this will be available in GRIMROCK 2 as well ...
Ah well, maybe in GRIMROCK 3 then. Can't wait for the game to be released!
ISHAR Remake possible?
Re: ISHAR Remake possible?
Ishar hasn't aged well in terms of playability, but the artwork is just phenomenal. I don't expect there will be towns, but maybe shops can be scripted.

I am really confident shops can be scripted, as I nearly did this in TLC (At least I scripted a money system, and ways to buys things, using altars, is was not really gameplay friendly...). As for whole cities, could be a lot of work, but with a little imagination, I am confident.

^This. Silmarils CRPGs always looked VERY good for their time, but game-play was not the best, to say it politely.Ixnatifual wrote:Ishar hasn't aged well in terms of playability, but the artwork is just phenomenal.
Some nice blog let's play from CRPG Addict about Crystals of Arborea that covers the problems with this particular sub-genre of french dungeon crawlers:

You see, Legend of Grimrock 2-story is full retro, eh...
One could make a point in saying that LoG 2 is already an ISHAR 0 'remake'.
