downloading mods (shared files) from Steam
downloading mods (shared files) from Steam
Hy everybody. I am interested in downloading mods Machu Picchu and The Mountain from Steam. I opened an account and subscribed for downloading. But what to do next ? Steam decides when I will get the link for download ? Shall I install Steamdownloader ? Does Steam advises by a message in my box when the link is available ? Despite the mods being inserted among "shared files", shall I pay for them ? A guiding light will be highly appreciated. Thanks a ton in advance.

Re: downloading mods (shared files) from Steam
You need to have the steam version of the game to download mods with Steam Client. To get a mod all you have to do is enter the workshop, browse the list to the mod you want and click "subscribe". Steam then takes care of everything else.
When you got "only" a non-steam version you need a steamdownloader tool to get stuff from the workshop and place it manually into the game's "Dungeons" folder.
As far as costs go: there is none. Anything on steam workshops is free of charge.

Hi Dr. Disaster and Zo, many thanks. Ah ! My LOG2 is so old that I can only assure that I didn't get it from Steam. But, please, I install the Steamdownloader and what happens or what shall I do next ? Thanks again.

Actually Zo Kath Ra's link is pretty self-explanatory:
a) enter the URL to the desired workshop item by copy'n'paste
b) download the item
c) move the file into the game's "Dungeons" subfolder
Windows: C:\Users\[username]\Documents\Almost Human\Legend of Grimrock 2\Dungeons
Mac: /users/[username]/library'application support/Almost Human/Legend of Grimrock 2/Dungeons

Re: downloading mods (shared files) from Steam
Thanks again Dr. Disaster. I installed GreaseMonkey for Firefox, entered Steamdownloader, pasted the URL for mod The Mountain (http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... irelogin=1) but the arrows kept running and the warning "something is wrong ... don't look at me ..." appeared. Any idea ?
Re: downloading mods (shared files) from Steam
HI, never mind. It worked and the download button appeared. Probably low connection as it is happening right now, I click and no return. I will retry later. Thanks a lot, guys and best regards from Rio.
Re: downloading mods (shared files) from Steam
Dr. Disaster, it is later now and download buttom in Steamdownloader doesn't work. Userscript and Greasemonkey installed and no Internet traffic with Steam. Other sites and Internet on. Any idea ? Thanks.
Re: downloading mods (shared files) from Steam
Hi folks. Checked steamdownloader in Internet and it seems that it no longer works for ages. Anyway, thank you so much.

It works for me:matuto wrote:Hi folks. Checked steamdownloader in Internet and it seems that it no longer works for ages. Anyway, thank you so much.
1) Open http://steamworkshopdownloader.com/ in your browser
2) Paste http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... =815725784 (link to Machu Picchu on Steam Workshop) into the URL textbox
3) Click the green "Download (34.8 MB)" button that appears
The URL for "The Mountain" is http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... =399738261 (doesn't require a login; the link you posted earlier requires a login)
