After months of work, and thanks to the help of the whole community, The Sunset Gate is finally out!


Buried alive by a mysterious accident. You're the only one alive in what used to be your prison. Will you see the light of day again ?

Choose between 16 different kits, 6 different NPCs ready to talk with you. And to fight with you.

Length: ~8 hours to completion, without taking time to discover all the secrets.

Do NOT create a party to play this mod (it features custom character creation and NPCs).

The game was playtested at standard difficulty. You're on your own if you're playing on hard :)

Fight responsibly.

Known Bugs:
List of bugs found by players. Sorry for them! :oops:

As an aside: map-markers interact badly with mods because of a bug in the main game.. avoid using map-markers as much as possible - sadly there's nothing I (or we modders) can do about it.

  • In some corner case you can get trapped inside the portcullis of prison access at the exit of the guard-post. See viewtopic.php?f=14&t=5563#p60908 for a workaround. Already fixed for next version.
  • Throwing weapons at the guards beds might make the weapon impossible to pick up again. Workaround: don't. Will be fixed in next version, hopefully.
  • Falling down a hole in level 1 when at 1hp (or about to die) will crash to desktop instead of gameover. Workaround: don't. Already fixed for next version.
  • Create food spell crashes. Workaround: don't, or use spawn("snail_slice") in the console to spawn food you have right to :). Already fixed for next version.

I just completed level 1 and a wandered a bit in level 2. Great mod so far. You've redone the classes nicely. Very climatic, good story telling. When I found the first remains...

As the betatester of this, I DO highly recommend it! Thanks Xanathar for all the work that went into this... Great attention to detail, engaging plot and lots of little surprises you wouldn't have expected in LoG.

If you want to play another Grimrock mod, this should be a no-brainer, like the Mine or the Master Quest.

got stucked - first level just before the dead body with key on the belt. I was returning to it from second floor after first dream. I got stucked between two portculis doors just before the corpse :/ could send you save if you want so you can check.

Hi Drakkan - thanks for the save game, now I see how yoou get stuck there :)

If you have the console enabled you can easily free yourself with:

clean_dungeon_door_portcullis_2:open()
I will fix it asap in the dungeon so that it won't happen to people on new version. For people on old version: it's enough to just push the buttons on those doors when you effectively want to enter the door.

Any chance of an update with the Quick Bar implemented? I think all mods should have it. But maybe it won't logically work with your in-game setup?
