Please fix the shadow color banding problem. Thank you. :)

Hi,

Hello devs, please fix the color banding problem of the shadows. I really like the game, I followed your developing from the first time and I really want to play in its full glory. Please, you only need to change some parameter in the shader config file I think. Thank you. :)

I attach a picture of the problem that is like that of Deus Ex.

Legend of Grimrock:

Look at the walls and the floor, it's horrible.

For a better understanding of the problem read this:

and look at these images:

Deus Ex:
without HDR, only classic lighting:

with HDR:

Same problem. I think the problem is the Nvidia driver. But I've the latest for my GeForce GTX 560 Ti that are the 296.10.

My config is: Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 @ 2,66 GHz @ 3,2 GHz stable (I'm like 3 years that I'm using it overclocked without a problem, not a bluescreen or anything), Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti with 1 GB GDDR5, Western Digital Caviar Black 500 GB SATA-II, 2 GB DDR2-800 Corsair XM2 CL4, a Corsair GS700 watt bronze 80 PSU with 56 ampere on the +12 volt line and a Gigabyte P35/ICH7 motherboard. My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. All temps ok. Everything is updated and perfect. I don't have any problem or error. I also defragmented.

Please resolve this issue. If you do the people will consider you a good dev like CDProjekt or others. Thank you. :)

So why this guy has the same problem as me?

And don't say I'm him because I've even replied in that discussion.

Maybe your 65000 colors LCD display has issues with 24bit shadows? I see no issues or banding in the game...
MSI GX660 with a B156HW01 V4 LCD here.

What is it I'm supposed to see in your pics? Can you do a little editing in paint perhaps?

Why you assume that I have a 65000 color LCD? :| I obviously have a normale one. A Samsung SyncMaster T200HD 20". I have the same problem with my CRT so it's not the LCD.

The color banding in the transition between shadows and light. There are patches of green and blue hues. And the contrast and saturation is too high. Look with more attention. You'll see what I'm talking about.

And I write it with much precision so that who read can understand what's the problem. :|

It didn't bother me but to reduce banding it needs some HDR rendering.

I've scanned your pics, and I cannot see the problems you describe. Perhaps it is a hardware issue on your end. Please open an image editor and circle the areas with the problem.

I know what you mean (look at the walls, the dark patches look 'odd'). My old man has this 'issue' but i do not.

I can provide a picture perhaps to show the difference.

I see what you mean, but to me it only seems like you need to lower your brightness settings. I find this same "problem" in many, many games if my brightness settings are too high.

Try and adjust your monitor's brightness/contrast/gamma settings and see if it helps in any way.
