Re: 2x2 strafing undermines character building [edited]

how easy combat is with it is entirely dependent upon how fast you are with your actions. even strafing, if you are slow, you will still get hit, often, and if you dont time things correctly, even after you have strafed, you will get hit. often. with the exception of the dodge skill, everything in t...

Re: 2x2 strafing undermines character building [edited]

Re: First time I seen[possible spoiler] I nearly sh@t my pan

the first spider kinda got me. aside from that, there were moments where i was like "that was a good one LoG..." like the intro to level 6. then i got to level 10 and ran into my first enemy that knew how to open a gate. and then there was the puzzle i solved where 3 of the grey-blue wizar...

Re: Wonderful. Your test was successful, now for the Big Da

its definitely because you are smarter. there are only so many kinds of puzzles you can come up with, and once you have played 3 or 4 games with a similar type puzzle, its just a matter of going through the motions. the hardest part is always figuring out the mechanics of how a given puzzle will wor...

Re: Wonderful. Your test was successful, now for the Big Da

i support bigger dungeons. i did map out every level on graph paper, but mostly because it's been so long since i had the chance/reason to do so i wanted to, even though i agree, i generally knew most of the levels by heart. this also plays to another comment i made -- one of the biggest 'problems'...

Re: Wonderful. Your test was successful, now for the Big Da

smaller with more complexity is better if you want a broader audience. if you make a game too massive, it envelopes the player, and shuts them out because they get the feeling it is either never ending or too much to remember. not to mention, the larger you make a dungeon, or a game world in in genr...
