regardless of the fact that you are absolutely screwed when you don't have ranged combatants? Would work, if they are not sturdier than a regular skeleton (they should probably be a bit weaker). That's awesome! Risen was my favorite game of 2009.

This is not an action game and shouldn't try to be one... right now it's an odd blend of stat based RPG combat and twitch based dodging that negates the need for said stats completely. Combat should be either or.. if it's trying to be both it won't be the best it can. It ends up a flawed RPG system...

The easiest way to handle the spiders is not to stop on the pressure plate and let them surround you, they don't teleport instantly so you have time to get out of there. Then you can run to the corridor near the Haunted Halls (where there's a gate that will help you escape) or fight them in the big ...

Impossible to win with toorum against 3 very quick spiders and ogre in the prison or alone against 15 mushroms in the room where are no narrow corridors and is impossible to hide himself (if you remember this place). 'Impossible' is a strong word considering all that has already been done with Toor...

If fighting in melee: It's not safe to step in to the ogre's side to attack (he will hit you with a roundabout attack before you will have a chance to move back). It's totally safe to wait for him to move and attack as he enters the new square, then move away. It's probably faster to find a 4-square...

The walls open when you have removed the key, tome and scroll from the alcoves, in any order. Note that you MUST take them out and not put them back in (was a problem for me as I left the scroll behind the first time).

There's a switch in the lightning conduit hallway 4 or 5 squares back from the lightning-shooting face.
