There are two other spots that you must grab Items from. They are FAR away, nothing to do with this section. Glad you were able to finish it in the end. I wonder if there is some sort of processor dependent timing issue, or engine bug that is a relatively recent phenomenon, that didn't exist 8 or 9 years ago.

Remake is just that, straightforward remake. Master Quest changes lots of things and adds new areas while being true to the core of the original. I took a stab at expanding the lore with several writings included in Master Quest, especially throughout the expanded ending section, but also in the crypt of the founders (or whatever it was called).
