yes for skills,

and yes for empty hand, but later can be any magic artefact like a staff or an orb (first magic staff is on lvl 1, first orb i think lvl 5)

otoh,

best for me:

- wiz7 for tile based
- planescape torment for iso
- ultima underworld for free
- darklands for combo

i did replay darklands couple times, ultimas and planescape 3 times, wiz 7 about 7 times.
