I can't find the steel gear anywhere.
I even gave up and shamefully looked at the walkthrough on Gamebanshee cause I was stucked on it for hours... And it isn't where they are pointing it.
I'm not sure if it is a bug or what, but that item isn't in my game.

Beside the fact that those suggestions are awful even as optional (as they are based on things that would break the game mechanics), you clearly have no clue of what "sandbox" means.

Well, the main difference is that with a proper ironman mode you would be able to quit at any point saving your game.
Also, following the "rule" wouldn't be about self-imposed discipline.

My "missile weapon" rogue is probably the greatest damage dealer in the party and has range as a clear advantage with some enemies.
So yeah, they can be useful.
