You're thinking of a throwing spear, which is a different weapon. I would agree if the skeletons used them in this manner, but these appear to be polearms and not missile weapons.
I think removing player choice on skills will greatly improve the enjoyment of the game, and additionally will remove the drive to min/max. The quoted sentence above makes no sense to me. You would enjoy the game more with less choice? You do know you don't HAVE to min/max right? I mean, there's no...
But then again the game might become a bit too hard. ;) If the dead would loose all their equipment until you reclaim it back might be challenging if you haven't managed to kill the monsters first. Indeed, that could be difficult then. Not a bad idea for a "super-hardcore" mode though. :-)

There are already buttons for this. On the menu. "Save" and "load". Im normally in favor of giving a player more options however i dont want to have to confirm after each level up because others can't be bothered to use the existing mechanic. Its unnecesary clutter on the screen....
