Re: [uMod] Gem Sockets on Melee Weapon

Thanks for the kind words! I absolutely love that you can use uMods to add new ways to play the base campaign. I hope to see some cool ideas in the future (and could definitely see some 'randomizers' appearing!)

Re: 64-bit version of LOG2

I feel like you could always throw up an error when loading these save games, and perhaps just stash the current 32-bit build in a public Steam branch and say "sorry for the inconvenience, but we've upgraded to 64-bit but this means that your save games in custom dungeons are incompatible with ...

Re: Merry Christmas!

Hey @Skuggs! Heh - glad that you weren't able to crash it :p. I'm mostly just hooking into existing logic (container component) with a couple of lightweight 'controller components' on top to handle changing the weapon stats, so I felt like it was quite "safe", but I'm super glad that it di...

Re: Merry Christmas!

Have uploaded an initial version of the mod to the "Custom Dungeons" board, as that seemed more appropriate than the "Modding" channel. Hopefully it will provide some inspiration (and possibly even fun) for anyone else who is interested in doing something similar / wants more exa...

[uMod] Gem Sockets on Melee Weapon

This mod adds support for 'gem sockets' on mid-range melee weapons - i.e. weapons that aren't already powerful and weapons that aren't just a branch or pick-axe. It also adds a few types of gems that you can add to those weapons to add small bonuses to those weapons (+3 Attack Power, +3 Accuracy, +5...

Re: Merry Christmas!

Damn you @petri! I hadn't intended to spend the last couple of days modding, but I couldn't resist with thew new uMod support! I've made a mod that adds "sockets" to Melee Weapons so that you can upgrade them. As I wanted something that is compatible with the main game, I made the mod add ...

Re: Merry Christmas!

I'm keen to hear what kinds of ideas pop into YOUR heads with a system like this or what kinds of limitations have caused you frustration with the Dungeon Editor? I think what's most exciting about umods is the ability to make more changes to the main game / default "dungeon". Some ideas ...

Re: Merry Christmas!

Hi! That is an interesting idea! However, umods code must be disributed as plain text files. That rules out any native extensions like that, the licensing terms explicitly forbid precompiled code. This is for security reasons so that anyone can check that the mod is not doing bad things if needed, ...

Re: Merry Christmas!

Hypothetical question here... Would this allow you to require('sockets') to load the socket library (after placing the library in the right place / updating the path in Lua to find it)? Just thinking, it could be pretty cool to do one of two things; 1. Build a Twitch extension so that players can in...

Re: Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas @petri and Everyone! Not been around much due to, well, real life and the like - but looking forward to firing up Grimrock 2 again and poking around based on the comments here! In completely random news - I have an M1 MacMini and Grimrock 2 was one of the first games I fired up on it...
