Lvl 7 end room

There is a room separated by pits with gargoyles throwing lights at the other side. The light triggers a "strike 3 - you're out" teleport. Are you supposed to play a catcher?

Not sure about this, but I think you get a passive benefit if the weapon provides one.

Two things happened:
1. A soldier appeared. Kept going after killing him.
2. A bag with goodies appeared. After, I did not hear any clicks. Was there more?

Human fighter - heavy armor, max swords
Minotaur fighter - heavy armor, max athletics
lizard rogue - daggers, assasiantion,
human wizard - little bit of everything (when replaying on hard I will focus more)

Man, I just finished it on normal, am so glad I did not decide to play the game on hard for the first time. Kudos to you guys beating this on hard.

What is the purpose of the walk about section? There seem to be 3 invisible pressure plates, but nothing ever happens when stepping on them. See image below
