Would it be a useful alternative to armors? Maybe wearing all that heavy armor without taking away the evasion penalties but having tons of hit points to balace it out?

As mentioned, I finally started with a Lizard rogue for my unarmed character. I'm at level 5 of the dungeon, my lizard is lvl 6 I think, with Dodge 2 and Unarmed 28. Is the threat of the Uggardians enough to get fire magic for the fire shield? Even if your mage is doing 0 damage against them?

I've raised my mage in earth magic to 13 so I have the all useful poison shield, but beyond that earth is not really worth it... Now I want to raise a second school of magic to be it's main attack one... and I'm doubting between Air and Fire. Air seems to be the most useful, and there are no enemies...

Decided to try the Rogue route...

Lizard rogue, all points in DEX and all the rest in VIT.
Traits Fist Fighter and Skilled
Dumped 2 points into Dodge as recommended and all else in Unarmed.
