Am I missing something, since it seems I can't get past the first room?

I've tried every possible combination on the Daemon Eye socket thing, tried putting the gems on the alcoves, putting stuff on the altar with no progress whatsoever...

I tried to mimic the room on another dungeon but it didn't work, gotta try playing my older dungeon if I could make it happen again!

I was creating my own dungeon and I made a room with one trapdoor and fireball spawners. I managed to get one skeleton warrior to walk on to the trapdoor and the timer controlling the trapdoor opened it, so the skeleton started to fall down, but just before his head disappeared into the hole, fireba...

oh, ok, got past the trapdoor part :D was there some sort of a hint somewhere, where to put the stones? I tried to put them under the trapdoor I wanted to shut.
